Cube Grid

This project looks like it is a ton of work but using the duplicate command makes it nice and simple like the morphing grid project.  I had frustrating fun trying to change up the light sources to make a more dynamic render.  I ended up using about 3-4 different light sources to get the look I was going after.

Glass Bottles

Making the glass bottle was a little difficult when I first started.  Using the box tool took some trial and error to figure out how to select what I wanted without leaving anything out.  I also had to rotate the view a few times to make sure I only had what I wanted to select in view as well.  Once I got that out of the way, I was able to make two bottles that didn't have part of the lip missing.  I am starting to remember small commands like, R for rotating objects on the x/y/z axis and Shift + A to add a new object/plane.

Cube Grid - AP

I was nervous to start this project - it looks so intricate! I really enjoyed it once I got going, and adding the camera and the lights in after actually helped me manipulate their positioning more than when they are already placed.

Glass Bottles - AP

This was another fun project.. my first attempt with the video is the first image, and the next two I added another bottle, and scaled my original while updating the color.

Glass Cube & Sphere - AP

I really like how in the first image the cube picks up the spheres color allowing you to see the different angles, while keeping its own color neutral. For my third image I opted to add a few more spheres...

Morphing Grid - AP

This was a really fun project - I think in part because I am feeling a bit more comfortable working in Blender and manipulating views, lighting, etc. Nneka- I was inspired by your project and also tried a different take on the grid for my 3rd image, as seen in the last views below. I really liked these views, especially the close ups which I think adds a bit of drama.

Variation on the Serial Planes - AP

I really enjoyed manipulating the x- and y- axis planes in this project. I found the more open I made them, the more I enjoyed the end product. It dramatized the lighting and shadows cast that much more.

Variation on the Serial Planes

I had so much fun with this one too.  I messed up the planes at first as they didn't make a cross when I rotated it around.  I had to start over and then I was able to move forward with the project.  I tried a few different colors and lighting for the different views.   On the last one, I changed the material for the cube from diffuse to glass and I tinted it blue.  I couldn't resist turning it to glass since I remembered how to do it from the last project.  😎😎😎

Glass Cube and Shpere

This was another really cool assignment.  Changing the material from Diffuse to Glass was really interesting and the accuracy of its texture was spot on.  For the alternate views I decided to change the color of the glass for both the cube and the sphere.  I also changed the lighting to be a bit more dramatic and chose a view that showed some of the different facets and reflections in the glass of the cube.

Variation on the serial planes project

Try this one... lots of fun....

Morphing Grid

This project was pretty cool.  I followed the video for the first two views and then tried out something different for the third.  I wanted to create a different morphing pattern for the third view and changed the lamp slightly.  I think as we go on with more projects my confidence will get better.  I feel a little overwhelmed with all of the intricate commands but I'm sure I'll start to remember them in time.  I'm still in awe that this program is free.  It is really amazing to work with.

When is work due

I take attendance for the week on Monday morning for the previous week.  That way you have the whole week-end to catch up on your work.... Try to do about 3 project per week using primarily the list of projects posted in the upper right hand side of the blog... that differs slightly from the projects listed in the main body of the syllabus...

Have fun!

Serial Planes

Trying to figure out how to add the mesh plane took me a few tries because I kept trying to stretch it in Edit mode instead of Object mode. 😅😅 I spent a lot of time playing around with the lighting on the last two versions of this.  I wanted really dramatic lighting to cast heavy shadows on it.  I thought that the spot light would do it but it just made it really, really, dark.  I ended up using the Hemi at 7.0 strength with a golden color on my last one.  I am looking forward to making the radial serial planes assignment.

Serial Planes - AP

The black and grey image was my first attempt when following along with our video. The two other versions I played around with the size of the plane, and colors. Is there a way to change the camera view so that view stays when saving as an image?

Basic Cube - AP

I haven't used the program before, and although it took me a few practice runs, I enjoyed my first experience in Blender. Below are 3 final images, as well as an additional - one of my first tries, that looks a bit different with cubes inside the larger. I'm not sure how I created it and am hoping by sharing you will be able to tell me?
